Expertise and Responsibilities:

As Technical Draftsperson/Graphic Artist for the Binghamton University Department of Geological Sciences and Environmental Studies, I provide a wide range of graphic and computer graphic services. My main responsibilities are to provide graphic products to Geology Department faculty for classroom use, publications and grant proposals, and for other professional endeavours. In the Fall of 2007, I took full responsibility of being the Geology Department's Webmaster. The transition to a new server is complete and the updating of files is continuous.  I also organize and produce promotional materials for the department, including the Graduate Brochure, an informational/promotional poster sent to colleges and universities all over the world, and the annual "Geo-Bing" department newsletter distributed to all of our alumni.  We have a Wednesday Noon Seminar with local professors and students presenting their research, and a Friday Seminar with professors from outside the University presenting theirs, for which I design and print announcement posters weekly.  I also assist Master's and PhD students prepare webpages and materials for their theses and related presentations.

I use a MacPro computer with a 23" flat screen, a B&W laser printer, an HPcp1700 color printer, a Microtek i900 color scanner, and I use a number of different software applications to accomplish projects requested.  A Wacom Graphire 3 Pen Tablet allows for drawing projects to be accomplished digitally.

Previously, as Audio-Visual Technician at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY, I gained experience in making instructional materials for classroom use, poster session presentations for professional meetings and technical drawings for all departments on campus. I also made renovations in display cases on campus, and painted oversized outdoor advertising banners for the Hamilton College Emerson Art Gallery. Hamilton is also where I learned my basic computer skills. I have carried those experiences to my position here at Binghamton and apply those talents to projects requested.

Other Interests:

The art of making Stained Glass is my hobby at home. I get my 'color fix' creating glass pieces, as many of my products at work are in black and white for publication. My glass studio always has something 'in progress' and wouldn't be complete without my right-hand-man, husband Tim. We produce pieces for ourselves, friends, family, colleagues and of course, anyone wishing for a unique gift.

I also do calligraphy as art, and on official certificates, and my latest craft is jewelry making. Semi-precious stones are my favorite and I attend local gem shows to find beads as well as friends finding me treasures from all over the world.  I also use crystals and glass beads to make earrings, necklaces and bracelets. I love gardening--planting dahlias, tulips and sunflowers and enjoy going to Seneca Lake in the summer to swim and enjoy the sunshine.  My furry friend Gus entertains us and now, as of April 2007, we have Red, the new edition of the Geology Yellow Lab. We dearly miss our doggie-boy Augie... RIP, November 14, 2005.
